Henri Cartier-Bresson (1908-2004) was a French photographer considered to be the father of modern photojournalism, an early adopter of 35 mm format, and the master of candid photography. He helped develop the "street photography" style that has influenced generations of photographers that followed.

Trained as a painter, he began his career in photography in 1931 on a trip to the Ivory Coast. The term Pecha Kucha is Japanese and roughly translates as chit-chat. It refers to a type of minimalist presentation and is widely growing in popularity. The time and image restrictions ensure quality over quantity and allow the audience to learn a little about a lot of different interesting things. Two and a half years ago Nikon publicized the 6 megapixel Nikon D70, their first reasonable enthusiasts digital SLR, it proved to be a very well-known camera and strong competitor to the Canon EOS 300D (Digital Rebel). Just 15 months later Nikon revealed the Nikon D70s which was basically the same camera with a some subtle tweaks (improved AF, wider flash coverage, higher capacity battery, larger LCD monitor). The Masters of Photography is a series first shown on the BBC in 1983 and includes some of the all time greats some of whom died before it was screened and the rest past away shortly after. The Genius of Photography is a BBC series screened 2008 which follows photography from its earliest time to the present day.

Award winning documentary
More than a simple portrait of an artist, this documentary about celebrated Canadian photographer Edward Burtynsky is also an examination of industrialization and globalization. Known for finding strange beauty in large industrial vistas, Burtynsky searches for great shots on trips to China and Bangladesh. In contrast to his seemingly impersonal aesthetic, the film focuses on individuals, revealing the dreariness and dangers of industrial work.

He photographed the excavation of Ground Zero, culminating in an exhibition that is now on tour around the world. Several months later, they resumed work on the Tuscany project. The book, Tuscany, is out now.

The genesis of "The Elements: Air/Water, Part 1" was sparked in July 2007, when Joel Meyerowitz was directing a video of Olympic divers from an underwater viewing room at a Florida pool. The repetition of dives had one thing in common; with every entry into the pool, an enormous plume of bubbles encased the diver. As each diver swam away, the bubbles coalesced into a cloud that rose to the surface and returned to the atmosphere. This small observation, about one Element's transition into another, led him to think about the individual qualities of the four Elements and their physical relationships. Meyerowitz responded immediately by beginning a study of the Elements and making a commitment to observe what these essential facts of life would look like in video and photographs.
