PhotoAlliance

The PhotoAlliance lecture series brings to the Bay Area a rich range
of talent and ideas to further the communities dialogue with contemporary photography.

Each month we present nationally and internationally known artists as featured speakers. Our goal is also to support the diverse range of regional photographers, and when possible, our events begin with an introductory presentation by an emerging artist.

You will never know what you will see or hear at a PhotoAlliance lecture, but you are likely not to forget each you attend.

Everyone welcome.

fotovision
fotovision.org

Fotovision is a Bay Area nonprofit created to support photographers interested in documenting their world. Our mission is to advance documentary photography and storytelling. We do this through education, dialogue and community. Our vision is to inspire and enable positive change by creating a global photographic community that gives voice to the human condition.
The curriculum is designed to span the various skills and techniques needed as a long-term, in-depth photo project is developed: fieldwork, editing, funding and marketing, book publishing, multi-media issues and more. We create opportunities for photographers to hear lectures by master photographers like Sebastião Salgado, James Nachtwey, Eugene Richards, Alex Webb and others. In addition, we give Bay Area photographers and people interested in documentary the rare opportunity to study with these masters in small groups.

Fotovision Multimedia Salon

First Wednesday of each month, 7-9PM
Description: Announcing: Fotovision Multimedia Salon
Starting April 1 (but we’re not fooling)

➢Fotovision: That hip ever-growing photo-fanatic's group
➢Multimedia: Mixing sound, stills, video, (smells? tastes?), to tell drop-dead stories
➢Salon: Usually a bunch of pretentious intellectuals in a gilded room getting all snooty about their work. But in this case we mean a group of motivated, experienced media folks sharing knowledge and work.

The group welcomes skilled still photographers, video photographers, journalists, radio and other sound people, editors and storytellers of various stripes working with multimedia.

Join us if you are:
*Actively working with multimedia.
*A professional on fire about the story-telling potential of multimedia, and serious about sharing and expanding your skills with a group of peers.

Fotovision will be reviewing samples of work and a one-paragraph statement to be sure that skills, experience and interests in the group are well-matched. This is not a group for beginners.

We welcome you to join! Please send a link to a sample of your work, and a one-paragraph statement about who you are and the work you do, to fotovisionmultimedia@fotovision.org.

Selected members will gather monthly to show works-in-progress for feedback, support, and discussion.

Think of it as a writers’ group for digital storytellers. Our hope is to gather a group of people with a wide range of skills and styles in the various aspects of multimedia, to exchange our hard-found expertise in this new field.

Cost: $15 per meeting to support Fotovision. 10% discount for all Fotovision members at the Regular or Supporter level.

Location: Fotovision, 2105 Martin Luther King Jr. Way, Berkeley, CA 94704. *This is two blocks from the Downtown Berkeley Bart station.

Propville

The Propville Directory’s Dog & Pony™ Shows are educational & networking events designed to bring the local production community together to learn new tricks, share ideas and network with other production professionals. Because the production markets (film, photography, theater and event) often need the same resources, we find that a room full of creative people bring all sorts of new elements to the table. Everyone has something unique to offer, from a service, to a viewpoint, to another connection. Dog & Pony™ Shows are held all over the Bay Area, from Bay Area Sound Stages (San Rafael) to Rough House Post (Presidio), with panelists and presentations on topics like HD Workflow, Self Marketing, Any Budget Sound Design and Copyright Protocols. Check the schedule for upcoming shows!
