The mission of PhotoResources-sf.com:
To add to the synergy of the YouTube videos.
By exposing the videos to viewers who may never have the opportunity or time to research and hunt down the videos that are presented.
By looking at hundreds of videos and editing down what this
site presents to our visitors.
To expose our visitors to inspiration and information,
that will make everybody a better and more informed photographer.
We do the research so you don't have to.
Welcome
to the new home of
Photographicresources-sf.com
photography resources for San Francisco, the Bay Area and Beyond. This
site has been developed as a dynamic web 2.0 destination
for photographers of all skill levels.
In 1996 I created the original Photo Digital Directory,
print version followed by a name change in 1999 to The Photo Directory.
Since 1997 a total of four books
were created and distributed with the support of almost everybody conducting
business in the Bay Area Photography community. All told over 20,000
books were distributed from 1996 to 2004.
Some
of you may have a copy of one or all of the published versions in your
library.
This dynamic website is what I envisioned in 1996 when I created the
first directory of photography services for San Francisco and the Bay
Area.
After the first book I realized I had became an AD salesman. Not
really what I wanted to do, but I dedicated myself to creating 4 outstanding
directories.
First
and foremost I am a photographer. I have channeled all of skills and
understanding about photography and have created what I consider a valuable
resource for photographers of all skill levels.

The
1999 On-line extension of the directory widened the marketability of
resources and listings since producers outside the immediate area now
had access to local references. Since going On-line this site has had
well over 3 million hits during the past 11 years.
From
september 2001 until september 2003, I created an extremely important
book titled "Oakland, A Photographic Journey"
a "then and now" photographic history of
Oakland.
I self-published and distributed 7000 copies (sold out). I
also raised
money to donate over 1200 books to third grade classes in
the
Oakland Unified School District.
The 100 pages was filled with over 300 images, a 10 x 10.5 inch hard
cover book was well received, winning the prestigious Oakland Heritage
Alliance award for Outstanding contribution to the citizens of Oakland
in 2004.
"Oakland, A Photographic Journey" was carried by 15 local bookstore.
Plus Borders and Barnes and Noble.
Above
is a two page spread of the "Oakland, A Photographic Journey" depicting 14th and Broadway from 1869 to 2003.
This combination of photography and history of Oakland was adopted by
the Oakland Unified School District as an adjunct to their third grade
curriculum.
For the story behind the creation of the book

Now starts the new era of this resource site. What you see is only the
beginning. I will always be growing this site and with your assistance
it will become even better. If you know of people and websites that
should be on this site please contact me. The home page will be the
bulletin board for what is going on in the Bay Area Photographic Community.
If you know of meetings, gatherings, museum or gallery photo shows please
send me an email. If you are a photographer or assistant to photographers
you may submit your contact information and your listing is free. I
only ask that you list this website on your site. Everyone benefits
when we work together. I wish to thank the entire photographic community
for the support and encouragement I have received over the past 14 years.
I ask you to participate again with me to organize the information and
knowledge you all have that makes the Bay Area such a fertile ground
for creativity and productivity.
I hope you find the new design easy to use.
Best regards,
Bill Caldwell
