Photo Alliance
photoalliance.org
This Fall marks the beginning of our fifth year of programming.
Since our start in 2002 we have presented more than 80 artists in a varied and engaged set of programs that have included workshops, lectures, portfolio reviews, exhibitions, and like-minded gatherings.
While our geographic location places us in the heart of the San Francisco Bay Area, our alliances and desire for furthering the dialog around contemporary photography stretches to wherever those conversations may be had.
Won't you join in?

advancement of photojournalism, its creation, editing and distribution,
in all news media. NPPA encourages photojournalists to reflect high
standards of quality in their professional performance and in their

in all its forms. To this end, NPPA provides continuing educational
programs and fraternalism without bias, as we support and acknowledge
the best the profession has to offer.
Our members include still and television photographers, editors, students
and representatives of businesses that serve the photojournalism industry.
As of the Fall of 2003, NPPA had over 8,000 paid professional members,
about 1,500 paid student members, and nearly 500 life members--bringing
the total membership to just over 10,000.

EP is a California-registered 501c(6) "mutual benefit" organization.
As such, we have volunteer Board members who are charged with carrying
out the responsibilities of such an organization as required by California
law. In addition, EP Board members discuss and vote on the direction
and focus of the group, act as liaisons between the various trade organizations
and working groups, often act as point people when issues critical to
photographers arise, and serve as heads of committees charged with various
organizational tasks such as education, membership, web content, and
fundraising. Daily business is conducted in cyberspace and through periodic
conference calls.....whew!

Blue
Earth Alliance
blueearth.org/
The link between compelling documentary photography and our collective
motivation to change attitudes, behavior, even policies – is strong.
Eddie Adams’s Pulitzer Prize–winning photograph of a Vietcong
execution in Saigon forever changed how the world viewed the Vietnam
War. Brazilian photojournalist Sebastião Salgado’s images
of the impoverished portray human life with fresh dignity and compassion.
Maintaining this link is central to the mission of Blue Earth Alliance.
Through our support of Photography that Makes a Difference, Blue Earth
Alliance has helped raise almost a million dollars for important issues
often overlooked by traditional media--The Arctic. Global warming. The
loss of open space in Los Angeles. Racism suffered by farmers. Disappearing
traditions of New England fishermen. The role of grandmothers in AIDS-ravaged
Africa.
Our sponsored projects have been at the forefront of issues affecting
contemporary society—John Trotter’s No Agua, No Vida investigates
the Southwest’s limited water resources; Perry Dilbeck’s
Truck Farmers: The Last Harvest chronicles the loss of independent farming;
and Florian Schultz’s Yellowstone to Yukon promotes the unification
of animal migration routes and habitats across international borders.
We work closely with our selected photographers to offer resources and
support including:
Non-profit, fiscal sponsorship for fundraising
Grant-writing consultation
Marketing and PR expertise
Contacts for publishers, galleries and museums
Technical resources like Shooting From the Heart, a BEA-published instructional
book for personal projects
Experienced Advisory Board to answer questions and provide guidance
Our projects are featured in books such as The Living Wild by Art Wolfe,
Arctic National Wildlife Refuge by Subhankar Banerjee, and Life on Earth:
A Journey Through Time by Frans Lanting. The organization has seen more
than a dozen books published, including titles by Blue Earth Alliance
co-founders Natalie Fobes and Phil Borges.
